Final Fantasy VII is Out Now on iOS

Final Fantasy VII is now available for the iOS App Store.

The iOS port offers two versions of a virtual controller, for “simple and comfortable” play. These include a virtual analogue, or a fixed four-way digital control pad. You can also adjust the opacity of the on-screen controls.

There are two new features in the iOS version, like turning off enemy encounters on the world and area maps (not event battles, though), and a “Max Stats” command that lets you “become all-powerful in the blink of an eye.”

Finally, a Playstation 4 port of the original is coming sometime later this year. An entire remake of the game is also coming to Playstation 4.

Well I guess they had to give it a dumb down option for the iOS crowd. I mean deactivating random encounters is alright, nothing new, Bravely Default had that too, but max stats? Come on, why play the game at all?

For the story. It’s not like FF7’s gameplay is particularly interesting; mostly just spamming the fight command, occasionally healing, and watching 3 minute long attack animations. Really, FF7 is a 10 hour game with 60 hours of padding from battles.

By the time the remake comes out everyone will have already played it again and gotten sick of it.
