According to a report to investors from Electronic Arts, Dragon Age: The Veilguard “underperformed” compared to company expectations.

In their Q3 2025 press release, EA divulged that not only had the controversial RPG underperformed, but it did so to the tune of only about half the company’s expectations. With 1.5 million players, that puts it as the franchise’s worst performing game according to VGChartz.

Dragon Age engaged approximately 1.5 million players during the quarter, down nearly 50% from the company’s expectations…

“During Q3, we continued to deliver high-quality games and experiences across our portfolio; however, Dragon Age and EA SPORTS FC 25 underperformed our net bookings expectations,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received criticism earlier this year for the game’s inclusion of non-binary and queer characters in a way that some players felt was anachronistic and out of touch with the game’s setting.

EA made no statements on how BioWare’s latest game may or may not impact the development of the next Mass Effect title, which is expected to release within the next few years.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was just released on October 31st for Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
