Disco Elysium: The Final Cut Refused Classification in Australia Because of Sex, Drug Misuse, More

Disco Elysium The Final Cut Refused Classification in Australia

We’ve learned Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has been refused classification in Australia.

Australia is notorious for their strict classification approval process for media, and Disco Elysium: The Final Cut was rejected due to “content that is very high in impact and falls outside generally-accepted community standards.” The actual listing for the Refused Classification can be viewed over on the Australian Government’s Classification Board site.

This means without changes, the game cannot be sold in Australia. Furthermore, the listing notes the game depicts “express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults to the extent that they should not be classified.”

It’s worth noting the original version of Disco Elysium is available in Australia for Windows PC, via Steam.
