Dead By Daylight recreates Ringu’s “Cursed Tape”

Dead By Daylight

The team at Behaviour Interactive has recreated Sadako’s cursed tape from Ringu using in-game assets from Dead By Daylight. The video was made in anticipation of Sadako joining the game in an official Ringu chapter on March 8th.

Dead By Daylight is an asymmetrical competitive game from Behaviour Interactive. While it considers itself a horror game, it’s more accurate to say that the horror is just set dressing on competitive hide-and-seek.

Back in December of last year, a new chapter was announced for Dead By Daylight which would feature Sadako from the series Ringu (not to be equated with Hollywood’s remake The Ring). The new chapter will include Sadako as a new killer called “The Onryo” alongside a new survivor Yoichi Asakawa who was only a young boy in the movie but is now grown up in Dead By Daylight.

In anticipation of the DLC’s release, Behaviour Interactive recreated the cursed tape from Ringu using in-game assets. The video was released on March 1st in order to be a whole week before Sadako’s debut in-game.

For those who don’t know, in Ringu: those who watch Sadako’s cursed tape are destined to die in seven days after watching the video. That is unless, they make a copy of the tape and get someone else to watch it instead.

Dead by Daylight is available now on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, iOS, and Google Stadia. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we recommend it!)
