“Throwing that version of the game on the console will be a bad idea”
Why? It’ll certainly help move more switch units.

    So lets say its true.
You have a couple of huge things to factor on the sales side and the hardware side.

-Install base of the platform the original game is out on, this case is literally the largest modern dedicated gaming platform.
–This means you are less likely to see return on the investment of the port.

-The game was designed with the 3DS in mind, and they are using the same maps and assets? But they made HD versions of the game with the same limitations of the 3DS?
–Far more likely, like most other dev houses, the Images were created at higher resolution to be down rezed for the 3DS. But lets say they did do this, they would have to split there dev teams in 2 and lets say all 108 people at game freak work just on game creation, thats 54 people learning how to program for a new system. Even with the delay they stated, that does not give them much time to make a quality product. This is asking for an inferior product, something that would kill the switch right off the bat.

-Release time. This would not help sell the new system that is coming out in 4 months. If they wanted to really have something like this, it would a launch title. Summer budgets for Nintendo advertising would be just plain weird here, and come out sloppy, something I can not see them pushing for. They want clean, and they want to aim for a different audience, that they seemingly lost before.

Yeah it’s on 3DS already but I’d pick up Stars with Switch if they really bumped up the internal resolution. As much as I love 3DS games the 3DS’ internal resolution looks like complete ass. Definitely regret getting the XL version since it just highlights how awful it looks.
They already said in the eurogamer article it was using higher resolution assets

Also from article it seemed like they were hard at work for this too, put it off for a while and now redirecting their effort on it. The ones hearing this from their sources seem quite upbeat about the whole thing.

This is the first time they put a mainline pokemon game on a console so who knows how successful it will be but I’m optimistic even factoring in it being on the 3DS already.
The cleaner visuals and extra features should entice a chunk of poke fans.
