Classic Shmup Gunnail Got Ported to Switch and PS4

Gunnail Got Ported

Publisher Hamster Corporation has announced the classic shoot ’em up Gunnail got ported to Switch and PlayStation 4 this past week.

The latest in their Arcade Archives series of classic game re-releases, Gunnail got ported to Switch (via the eShop) and PlayStation 4 (via the PlayStation Store) on each platforms digital storefront.

The most recent Arcade Archives re-release before Gunnail was another classic shmup, Xexex, the ultra-rare shoot ’em up that was released back in 1991 for the United States as Orius by publisher Konami. It never saw a home console release outside of Japan, so it has remained lost until its new re-release.

Here’s a rundown on the game:

When you’re on the verge of death, that’s when you keep shooting!

“GUNNAIL” is a shooting game released by NMK in 1993. This game has a feature called the MULTIPLE SHIELD SYSTEM where you’ll get a higher score the fewer shields you have. Experience hardcore gameplay mechanics typical of NMK, and an intense scoring system!

The “Arcade Archives” series has faithfully reproduced many classic Arcade masterpieces.

Players can change various game settings such as game difficulty, and also reproduce the atmosphere of arcade display settings at that time. Players can also compete against each other from all over the world with their high scores.

Please enjoy the masterpiece that built a generation for video games.
