Chrono Trigger Composer Yasunori Mitsuda Announced as Guest Composer for Sea of Stars

Sea of Stars

Sabotage Studios have announced that the composer for Chrono Trigger, Yasunori Mitsuda, will be creating music for their The Messenger KickStarted RPG prequel- Sea of Stars

“By contributing his legendary musical genius to the project,” Sabotage Studio explained in their announcement on KickStarter,“he will help convey the depth of this fantasy world’s story while ensuring its nostalgic roots are paid proper homage. Being such an inspiration for all of us, Mitsuda represents exactly what Sea of Stars needed to feel truly whole.”

Yasunori Mitsuda also shared his thoughts on the project. With high praise, he describes how he was inspired to come aboard for how the game respects the 90s JRPGs it is inspired by, while doing something new.

“Without knowing exactly why, ‘I want to write music for this game’ was the feeling I had while seeing it convey the nostalgic golden age of the 90s.

Although there are still many games being released with this classic style, I don’t think players are satisfied with just nostalgia. As seen in their previous game, by adding new systems and ideas to classic formulas, Sabotage Studio breaths fresh, new air into their work.

Impressed by the respect they show for past games while at the same time giving players new ways to have fun, I found myself wanting to make a game with everyone at Sabotage Studio. Please look forward to an exciting adventure.”

Sabotage Studio also announced they will soon be “announcing the final Stretch Goal, something we were meaning to work on for the game post-launch all along, but would love to include for free to our backers.”

All of the game’s current stretch goals have been reached, including Single Player+, a bonus dungeon, in-game cinematics, a behind-the-scenes documentary, New Game+, and an alternate ending.
