Arcade Archives re-releases the naughty classic shmup PHELIOS

PHELIOS

Hamster Corporation’s ongoing Arcade Archives series confirmed its next re-release: the naughty yet classic shmup PHELIOS.

Originally released in 1989, the Namco-developed shooter never made its way to American arcades due to the bondage and torture scenes featuring Artemis in between levels.

You can find the Greek-themed shmup for the first time in the west for $7.99 on Nintendo Switch (via the eShop) and PlayStation 4 (via the PlayStation Store).

Here’s a brief rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:

PHELIOS

PHELIOS is a shooter released by NAMCO (Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.) in 1989.

Players (the knight APOLLON) mount a pegasus and use items to power up while fighting to take down the bosses of the seven temples and rescue Queen ALTEMIS.

The game also features gorgeous animation and engaging messages for players. Immerse yourself in the world of PHELIOS!

The previous release in their Arcade Archives re-releases was Bubble Bobble for Switch – read more about that here in our previous report.
