Prepare more blood for the blood god, because Aztez is coming to Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita, Team Colorblind has confirmed via the Playstation Blog. The team is based out of Arizona, and their game is described as a “brutal, blood, expressive, difficult, and replayable action game.”

Aztez is actually more like playing two games at the core of its gameplay, the first half being a “full on real-time beat ’em up combat experience,” while the second half is an “empire management strategy game.”

Combat designer Ben Ruiz had this to say regarding the game’s combat:

“We’ve piped in the feel and creativity of Bayonetta, the sensationalism and mobility of Capcom’s Alien Vs Predator, and the precision difficulty of classic Devil May Cry. As the combat designer, I’ve been studying these types of games for years, and I refuse to produce and hand you something that won’t dangerously raise your heart rate and dopamine levels.”

Ruiz also talked about the game’s empire management bits, which is where the replayability definitely comes from:

“We decided early on that we didn’t want to make another beat ‘em up that forces you through a linear narrative and rote platforming segments. So we’ve created what we feel is an infinitely more interesting vehicle for thrilling combat; a randomized, historical Risk-like.”

Although Team Colorblind didn’t confirm a release date for Aztez, we’ll keep you guys posted.
