Altered Alma gets funded in just six hours

Altered Alma

Altered Alma, the cyberpunk metroidvania developed by 2Awesome Studio, has been funded in mere hours after launching.

The new hybrid metroidvania game was funded in just the first six hours of its Kickstarter launch campaign. The first stretch goal, Bosh Rush Mode, has also been unlocked, with momentum and enthusiasm only building as we go into the second day of the campaign.

In Altered Alma, you have more gameplay options than what you might expect from a typical metroidvania. Besides combat and exploration, there is also the option to date characters in the game, although you don’t have to do this if you only want to do combat. Dating different characters unlocks side missions and side areas, and will probably unlock multiple endings depending on the path you choose.

You play for Jack (short for Jackelyne), a young, cyber-enhanced human woman who used to work for a tyrannical organization called the Crusaders – a Nietzschean organization obsessed with cybernetics and strength.

One day, Jack refused an order from the Crusaders, and is banished, becoming an outlaw in the streets of New Barcelona. You’ll now have to survive among the tank-top and crop-top (among other styles) wearing punk women who roam the streets, many of whom are in a rebel organization known as the Harlequins, led by Red Rosie – who appears to be both a boss battle and for sure a potential love interest.

The idea of punk women teaming up to overthrow a Nietzschean, cybernetics-obsessed cult is a cool one, and I’m glad to see the game doing well on Kickstarter. The game is certainly resonating with Kickstarter’s user base, and it’s still only at the beginning of its funding period.

Altered Alma is expected to release in November of 2025 for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
