Halo Infinite Won’t Have Campaign Co-Op at Launch, Forge Mode Also Delayed

Halo Infinite Won't Have Campaign Co-Op at Launch

Halo Infinite won’t have campaign co-op at launch, nor its Forge map-making mode, publisher Microsoft and developer 343 Industries have confirmed in a new development update.

The news that Halo Infinite won’t have campaign co-op at launch nor its Forge mode comes alongside the note that the team is focusing on providing a “quality experience for launch.”

“Unfortunately, as we focused the team for shutdown and really focused on a quality experience for launch, we made the really tough decision to delay shipping campaign co-op for launch,” Halo Infinite creative head Joseph Staten said. “And we also made the tough call to delay shipping Forge past launch as well.”

Despite the delay on the campaign co-op, Halo Infinite will naturally have a full multiplayer mode, which they’re also going to offer entirely free to all Windows PC and Xbox Series X owners.

The campaign co-op will eventually be added as a post-launch update in their Season 2 roster, three months after release. Forge is set to be released six months after launch as part of their Season 3 offerings.

“Our number one priority is making sure whatever we ship, whenever we ship it, it meets the right quality bar. Across all platforms, Xbox devices, PC, and all of its different configurations. And when we looked at these two experiences, campaign co-op and Forge, we made the determination they’re just not ready,” Staten said.

He added, “As a studio, we don’t want to ship things if they’re not ready, so people can play them, have fun, have a nice stable, performant experience. So we’re gonna keep campaign co-op and Forge in the oven for a little bit longer and then when they’re ready we’re gonna release them as a part of our seasonal roadmap, next year.”
