EA Releases Skate Teaser: We’re Working On It

Skate

Electronic Arts (EA) have teased the next game in the Skate series, confirming that it is still in development.

The last game in the series, Skate 3, launched in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; and was well received by players and journalists alike [1, 2]. Now, EA has revealed a teaser trailer for what may be Skate 4 in development.

Developer EA Black Box was closed in 2013, with Engadget reporting in January that EA had formed Full Circle to work on the game. Just like Black Box, the developer is also based in Vancouver, Canada.

From the teaser we do know the game will involved Skate alumni Deran Chung (Video Editor & Compositor), and Cuz Parry (Producer). Engadget reports the pair will act as the game’s creative leadership, lead by general manager Daniel McCulloch, former head of Xbox Live.

The new teaser trailer also seems to imply gameplay can be shown, at least to professional skateboarders. It may be that the game’s motion capture and physics are at a satisfactory stage, but graphics are not yet “presentable” for a good first impression. Nonetheless, development was surely hindered by the COVID-19 quarantine orders.
