Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trial Version 1.03 Fixes Data Corruption Error

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Square Enix have announced Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trial Version has been updated so that it now playable; after a bug corrupted the game’s data for many.

As previously reported; Jack, Ash, and Jed attempt to find the Chaos Shrine; and defeat Chaos itself. As the trio’s memories are muddled and hidden, are they the prophesied Warriors of Light? Players will fight iconic monsters from the Final Fantasy series (turning into crystals when they die), and use powerful spells, abilities, and classic jobs (such as warrior, dragoon, and black mage).

Along with classic monsters, it seems new forms of classic villains may appear; such as Garland. Developed by Koei Tecmo Games, and Team Ninja; the game appears to be the previously rumored PlayStation exclusive Souls-like Final Fantasy game.

Fans have hotly debated if the main trio are too realistically dressed and looking for a Final Fantasy game, and the game’s graphical quality. Even comments made by creative producer Tetsuya Nomura were taken by some as a back-handed compliment rather than praise. “While it is FINAL FANTASY, it feels different—but there’s no doubt that the blood of FINAL FANTASY runs through its veins.”

The game made at least one impression that everyone could agree was bad. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trial Version launched straight afters its announcement on June 13th, and was unplayable.

A corrupted file prevented it from being played, which persisted for some users up to June 15th. However, Square Enix have announced with the launch of update version 1.03 the issue should be resolved. Those who play are also invited to take part in a survey to offer feedback (until June 30th until 7:59 a.m. PDT) via the main menu.

Even while the demo was not working, fans managed to find amusement in Chaos Posting; memes spreading after the game’s announcement focused on Jack’s seemingly dogged obsession with killing chaos.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin launches 2022 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A PlayStation 5 demo is available (and working) now, until June 24th.
