Former Shin Megami Tensei Staff Reveal “New School RPG” Monark

Monark Shin Megami Tensei Staff New School RPG

Former staff who worked on the Shin Megami Tensei series have announced their own “new school RPG” Monark.

As reported by Persona Central, the official website and Famitsu magazine #1696 teased the name of some involved. While many names are redacted, more are seemingly being revealed as the website counts down to a full reveal; with the game’s logo recently being uncovered.

The staff that have been uncovered include Kazunari Suzuki (writer on Shin Megami Tensei writer), Aya Nishitani, Ryotaro Ito (both writers for the Digital Devil Story and Shin Megami Tensei series), and Tsukasa Masuko (composer for both Devil Summoner and Shin Megami Tensei).

The website also has a phone number at the top; 050-3204-4961. Ringing it produces a pre-recorded message of two or more people in agony; possibly fighting, before a scream of a young man. A man’s voice then says “Finally, I have been waiting for you, my foolish, silly children.” (translation: Persona Central).

Famitsu also produced a list of the game’s Japanese voice cast. You can find the list below:

  • Gakuto Kajiwara
  • Honoka Kuroki
  • Shigeru Chiba
  • Madoka Asahina
  • Yuki Sakakihara
  • Taito Ban
  • Suzuko Mimori
  • Kotori Koiwai
  • Wataru Hatano
  • Satomi Akesaka
  • Shinichirou Kamio
  • Ayasa Ito
  • Shinichirou Miki
  • Ryusei Nakao
  • Atsushi Tamaru

Finally, Persona Central note Ryokuta2089 (a website dedicated to content from Japanese magazines as well as leaks) claimed the game will be fully announced June 10th. This is consistent with the count-down timer on the official website, and later an official tweet. This may even mean a global reveal during Summer Games Fest; though the lack of any western teaser may dampen that idea.

While the game was only known as “New School RPG” at the time, Ryokuta knew the involvement of “S, I, M, and N;” who we now know are Suzuki, Ito, Masuko, and Nishitani.

We shall keep you informed as we learn more.
