Genshin Impact Rosaria: Purger of the Shadows Trailer

genshin impact Rosaria

MiHoYo have released a gameplay trailer showing off Rosaria, the new character for their gacha action-RPG, Genshin Impact.

As previously reported, Rosaria is a gloomy and cold nun from Mondstadt that first appeared briefly in the 1.2 update’s story quest, and is the only new playable character being added in 1.4. A prior trailer focused on her overall lore and personality, and showing her in battle.

Today’s trailer focuses on Rosaria’s combat abilities in more detail. She is a 4-star Cryo polearm character with a focus on mobility and damage over time.

Rosaria’s Elemental Skill allows her to dash behind smaller enemies, before striking them with a Cyro-infused slash. Her Elemental Burst is a wide swing that deals Cyro damage, before summoning a giant frost spear that deals periodic pulses of Cryo damage over a wide area for a few seconds. As an added bonus, Rosaria also increases your movement speed at night while she is in your party.

You can see Rosaria in action in the trailer below.

Rosaria is currently available in the limited time Farewell of Snezhnaya wish banner. She is one of the four characters featured in the banner, alongside the return of the popular 5-star character Tartaglia, and the 4-star characters Barbara and Fischl. She will be added to the standard, permanent wish banner in the 1.5 update.

Rosaria has been the subject of some controversy however. Fans were quick to notice her bust size had been reduced from her first appearance, and feared this was the result of censorship (fearing either the Chinese government or outcry from social media). Due to reusing animation assets however, there is a chance MiHoYo reduced her bust to prevent clipping with her pole-arm.

At this time of writing, MiHoYo has not released a statement on the changes to the character.

Genshin Impact is available and free-to-play on Windows PC (via the official website), PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, and coming soon to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we recommend it!)
