This Week in Warhammer – The Call of the Wind Teaser

Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Games Workshop have previewed their various Warhammer games and others in their Call of the Wind teaser trailer.

As with every Sunday Preview, there is a quick recap trailer giving a brief rundown of the upcoming preorders, as well as the various articles and daily Warhammer TV livestreams for the week ahead.

In terms of the upcoming preorders, it is mostly about Age of Sigmar. Broken Realms: Teclis, the second book in the ongoing Broken Realms narrative series, will finally be available for purchase.

This book continues the events of Broken Realms: Morathi, and deals with the aftermath of her bid for godhood, as well as the start of Teclis’ campaign to invade Shyish, the Realm of Death, to disrupt Nagash’s plans. The book will have a 700-copy limited edition run and an ebook version.

Of course, new narrative is far from the only things in Broken Realms: Teclis. It will feature new battleplans and loads of new rules, including warscrolls, battalions, and allegiance abilities for the Lumineth Realm-Lords based on their new Hurakan units. Maggotkin of Nurgle, Flesh-eater Courts, Cities of Sigmar, and Ossiarch Bonereapers will also be getting new rules and abilities.

Much like with the release of Broken Realms: Morathi, Broken Realms: Teclis will be accompanied by four army sets representing specific battalions within the book. These include:

  • Maggotkin of Nurgle’s Invidian Plaguehost, consisting of 20 Plaguebearers, a Sloppity Bilepiper, and a Spoilpox Scrivener.
  • Cities of Sigmar’s Xintil War-magi, consisting of a Luminark of Hysh, Celestial Hurricanum, and a Celestial Battlemage.
  • Flesh-eater Courts’ Mortevell’s Helcourt, consisting of 20 Crypt Ghouls, 3 Crypt Horrors, and an Abhorrent Archregent.
  • Ossiarch Bonereapers’ Horrek’s Dreadlance, consisting of 10 Kavalos Deathriders and a Liege-Kavalos.

The Lumineth Realm-Lords are getting a gigantic wave of new releases, so they are also getting a new battletome to accompany them. This new battletome consolidates all the rules in the current battletome alongside the new units and rules included in Broken Realms: Teclis.

Existing players can get all the new rules by purchasing Broken Realms: Teclis, while newbies can opt instead to grab the new battletome to get everything in one place. As with all major rules supplements, the new battletome will also get a 700-copy limited edition and an ebook version.

Leading the army of new models for the Lumineth Realm-Lords is Lyrior Uthralle, Warden of Ymetrica, a seasoned commander and skilled warrior for the Tyrionic nations of Hysh. He can both support your forces and strike down foes with his enchanted Daemonbane lance.

The same kit can also be assembled as Lord Regent, a noncharacter mounted lord that is perfect for equipping the Lumineth’s various combat-focused command traits and artifacts that didn’t have a suitable bearer until now.

The Hurakan Windchargers are a new unit of mounted archers that ride into battle on their kangaroo-like Treerunners. Windchargers excel at using their speed and maneuverability to harass slower enemy forces ahead of your main phalanx line of Wardens.

The Vanari Bannerblade is one of the many new champions being added to the Lumineth forces. The Bannerblade is an expert swordsman that has been granted the great honor of carrying one of the Lumineth’s ornate World Banners into battle. They are capable of inspiring your troops, and if need be, cutting down lesser foes that get too close.

The Scinari Calligrave are arcane support heroes that can empower their allies and hinder enemies with their magically imbued calligraphy.

Sevireth, Lord of the Seventh Wind is a legendary fox-like war avatar for the Hurakan aspect of the Lumineth, similar to how the Alarith have Avalenor, the Stoneheart King. Seeing as how Sevireth is the lord of the wind, he is capable of quickly flying across the battlefield, appearing wherever he is needed to shoot enemies with enchanted arrows.

As with previous Lumineth avatars, the kit can also be assembled as a noncharacter version called a Hurakan Spirit of the Wind.

Another of the Lumineth’s Hurakan forces is the Windmage. As a wizard attuned to Hysh’s enchanted winds, the Windmage quickly flies around the battlefield on a cloud, unleashing powerful storm spells.

The Vanari Bladelords are a unit of expert swordsmen from the Tyrionic side of the Lumineth Realm-Lords, and will hopefully be a solid melee anchor unit for those who are fed up with seeing their Warden’s absurdly long spears snap during transport.

The Vanari Starshard Ballista is the Lumineth’s first true artillery piece, and is capable of hurling massive spears great distances.

The Scinari Loreseeker is another one of the Lumineth’s warrior-mages, and are tasked with traveling across the Mortal Realms cataloguing arcane lore. Each one of them is a skilled Bladelord in their own right, meaning they can handle themselves in melee in addition to casting spells from afar.

Ellania and Ellathor, Eclipsian Warsages are twin champions that combine the best aspects of Tyrionic and Teclian philosophies. The inseparable duo travel across the Mortal Realms in search of enlightenment, and in battle they fight with a deadly combination of arcane bolts and enchanted blades.

Finally, the Shrine Luminor is the Lumineth’s first terrain piece. This safe haven can be garrisoned by one of your mages, allowing them to empower their Hyshian magic.

With all these new units to keep track of you’ll probably want to grab the new set of Lumineth Realm-Lords warscroll cards and tokens.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar

Moving on, Games Workshop has some new Black Library releases coming soon as well. First up is The Vampire Genevieve omnibus, collecting together the books in Kim Newman’s series about Genevieve and her allies. The final book in the series, Silver Nails, is also going to be released as an MP3 audiobook.

Gav Thorpe returns with a new Horus Heresy book called Luther: First of the Fallen, which explores the backstory of this controversial and mysterious figure from the Dark Angels.

Finally, Richard Strachan’s The End of Enlightenment follows the battle between the Lumineth Realm-Lords and the Ossiarch Bonereapers, and is set alongside the events of Broken Realms: Teclis.

The seconded issue of Marvel’s Marneus Calgar comic is also coming soon, and collectors can get a special variant cover of the comic through the Games Workshop webstore.

Forge World is getting some new releases in the form of the Word Bearers Legion Praetor for gamers and collectors of the Horus Heresy. This resin kit comes with an optional helmetless head featuring ritualistic scars.

If you want a more heavily armored Praetor, there is also a Terminator version wearing Tartaros Pattern Tactical Dreadnought Armor.

Finally, the fourth Space Marine action figure from Bandai is about to go on sale. As with the previous ones, it is a Primaris Intercessor, but this time its bearing the colors of the White Scars Chapter. Much like the other three, this will be a very limited run figure, and will only be on sale for one week.

That’s all for the upcoming Games Workshop preorders and This Week in Warhammer news. All of these items will be up for preorder on the 27th, and aside from the Bandai White Scars figure, will get a full release the following Saturday.

Throughout the week, the Warhammer Community site will run articles teasing rules from the upcoming books and models, and the Warhammer TV Twitch channel will run a variety of hobby streams.

Which of these new models and books caught your attention? Will you be getting any of them when they release? Tell us in the comments below!
