Bethesda Softworks have announced the release date of The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion, along with new details on the MMO expansion.

The first part of the expansion will be the Flames of Ambition DLC, launching March 8th on Windows PC, Mac, Google Stadia, and March 16th on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This will then be followed by the Blackwood chapter launching June 1st on Windows PC, Mac, Google Stadia, and June 8th on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

After this is a DLC dungeon pack to be launched in Q3 2021, and a DLC story zone in Q4 2021. The overall story of Gates of Oblivion focuses on stopping the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon; 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The Flames of Ambition DLC game pack adds two new PvE dungeons, The Cauldron and Black Drake Villa. Players must destroy a shrine to the Prince of Destruction, and recover a mysterious tome before it is burned. Returning characters Eveli Sharp-Arrow and Dremora Lyranth will also appear, along with unique rewards and collectibles.

The Blackwood chapter will feature over 30 hours of new story content, the titular Blackwood zone, a new Companions system, a 12-player trial in Rockgrove, and new world events through Oblivion Portals. There will also be new delves, public dungeons, world bosses, stand-alone quests, updates, and quality-of-life improvements.

Blackwood itself is stet between the Argonian homeland and the Imperial province of Curodiil; beset by Daedric influence and the people struggling between evils from tyrants and Oblivion alike. Players will venture through the Imperial City of Leyawiin, the Niben Forest, and the Blackwood Bog.

Players must investigate a conspiracy of the deposed Longhouse Emperors, and a deadly pact orchestrated by Mehrunes Dagon that would harm the people of Blackwood. Your adventure can be shared with other players, along with the Companions system to recruit and fiht alongside ally NPCs; along with their own stories. They can also level up, and use customizable gear, abilities, and behaviors.

Those who pre-purchase The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood now will get immediate access to the game, the Nagahide Welwa Ravager mount, Nightmare Bear Cub pet (until March 17th), the Dremora Kynreeve Outfit , Deadlands Wamasu Pet, one Iron Atronach Crate, three Blackwood Treasure Maps, and two Experience Scrolls.

Blacckwood also has numerous special editions. Along with The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Blackwood and The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Blackwood CE, there is the The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Upgrade and The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood Upgrade Collector’s Edition.

The Collections include the Blackwood Chapter, the base game, and all previous chapters (Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, and Greymoor). The Upgrade only contains Blackwood.
