Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury Overview Trailer

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

Nintendo have released an overview gameplay trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, providing insight into new features.

Announced as part of the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary, the game provides not only the 2013 Wii U title, but a new game mode in Bowser’s Fury. Adapting the classic 2D Super Mario Bros. gameplay into 3D (as Super Mario 3D Land did on Nintendo 3DS), players must run and jump through linear stages filled with traps, tricks, and foes.

New power ups and mechanics introduced in that game included clear pipes you, enemies, and fireballs can pass through. New power-ups include Double Cherries to make duplicates of yourself, and the Super Bell that lets you scramble up walls for a short time and pounce.

New features include being able to take a screenshot during gameplay, and add collected stamps onto the scene, including level walls. The camera can be rotated to angles not seen in normal gampelay. The game now supports both online and local multiplayer for up to four players, while two can play on a single Nintendo Switch.

A new trailer released yesterday detailing Bowser’s Fury, with the new trailer going into more depth. The mode takes place in Lake Lapcat, islands where everything is cat-themed or powered-up by a Super Bell. Players collect Cat Shines before Bowser transforms into Fury Bowser, unleashing chaos across the level.

While Bowser will eventually go back into his shell, players must defeat him by unlocking the Giga Bell with enough Cat Shines. Players then transform into Giga Cat Mario, but how players utilize the form was not revealed at this time. The game supports local 2 player co-op, with one player controlling Bowser Jr.

The game overall will support all current amiibo, with special features with certain ones. The Cat Mario amiibo provides a special Super Bell to make players invincible Cat Mario, while the Cat Peach Amiibo summons a random power-up. Both of those amiibo will launch on the same day as the game.
