Today’s Niche Spotlight is Omori, a surreal horror RPG by Omocat and Playism.
First Kickstarted way back in 2014, Omori is based on a series of webcomics, graphic novels, and picture books that started in 2011. The game follows Omori, a depressed otaku stuck in a white void who discovers a new world full of colorful friends. Your choices will eventually decide the fate of Omori, his friends, and the world he chooses to stay in.
The game is made in RPG Maker, and features a turn-based combat system built around the current emotional state of your characters. You can find the latest trailer below.
Omori is available on Windows PC and Mac (both via Steam) for $19.99 USD.
You can find the rundown (via Steam) below:
Explore a strange world full of colorful friends and foes. Navigate through the vibrant and the mundane in order to uncover a forgotten past. When the time comes, the path you’ve chosen will determine your fate… and perhaps the fate of others as well.
