Sony is boasting the initial pre-orders for PlayStation 5 have far exceeded its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, in pre-orders.

Reportedly, PS5 sold more pre-orders in the first 12 hours than PS4 sold in its first 12 weeks of pre-orders, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan confirmed to Reuters.

“The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been has been very, very considerable,” Ryan said. “It may well be that not everybody who wants to buy a PlayStation 5 on launch day will be able to find one.”

Ryan added that Sony is “working as hard as we ever can” to make sure there’s enough supply for the holiday shopping season.

The PlayStation 5 will launch November 12th in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. For the rest of the world, it will launch November 19th.
