Guilty Gear -Strive- Supports Cross-Play Between PS4 and PS5, Next-Gen Upgrade

Guilty Gear -Strive-

Arc System Works have revealed Guilty Gear -Strive- will support cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, along with a free next-gen upgrade.

The game launches April 9th, 2021 on Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

SiliconEra reports the latest news post on the game’s Japanese website, detailing a pre-purchase FAQ. In summation (Translation: Google Translate), the game will support cross-platform between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, but not Japanese arcade or Steam versions.

The PlayStation 4 and 5 versions will have no difference in game content (other than resolution and loading time), and the PlayStation 4 version will be backwards compatible with the PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 4 version will also support next-gen upgrading to the PlayStation 5 version (though upgrading from a disc version will require a PlayStation 5 with a disc drive).

The game’s Ultimate Edition will not be sold for Steam. This Ultimate Edition contains early access to the game on April 6th, the Season Pass 1, digital soundtrack and artworks, Ultimate Edition special colors, and special colors for Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske). It should be noted there will be a Digital Deluxe Edition also contains Season Pass 1.

Finally, those with early access to the game via the Ultimate Edition will have 13 characters to play as (instead of 15), and less game modes. Editor’s Note: The modes listed are on an image in Japanese, making machine translation more difficult.
