Konami Files Trademarks for Gensou Suikogaiden and More in Japan

We’ve learned Konami has filed a few interesting new trademarks for some classic games that might be returning soon.

The company filed trademarks (via Gematsu) for Gensou Suikogaiden, Ganbare Goemon, and Emotional Voice System on October 5th, in Japan. Konami has been on a spree recently filing trademarks or submitting ratings for older games and re-releasing them, whether on PC or consoles – Metal Gear Solid was a recent re-release they offered.

While Gensou Suikogaiden is a Japan-only, two-volume visual novel spinoff in the Suikoden franchise, the first game took place largely during the events of Suikoden II, and its sequel took place just prior to Suikoden III, which takes place 18 years after Suikoden II. Ganbare Goemon is Konami’s long-running action-adventure series focused on Japanese folklore.

The last trademark is a bit more specific, as “Emotional Voice System” is the name of the mechanic in place within the Tokimeki Memorial series, which enables the in-game female characters to pronounce the player’s custom input name.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
