Monster Hunter Live Action Film Teaser Trailer, Premieres December 2020

Monster Hunter Movie Black Diablos

Capcom have revealed the first teaser trailer of their upcoming live-action Monster Hunter movie, along with the first monster Black Diablos.

As previously reported, the Sony Pictures and Screen Gems-produced film launches in 2020- now confirmed as December 2020. Most curious is the film firmly stating it will only appear in theaters- clearly confident that coronavirus quarantine measures will be relaxed around that time.

The film was originally announced back in 2016. Pictures of the film first came about in two bursts in December last year. Now we see our first trailer- albeit sixteen seconds- and our first look at a monster in film; Black Diablos.

You can find the teaser trailer and rundown (both via IGN) below.

“When an unexpected sandstorm transports Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures.

As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.”

The film will also star Tip “T.I.” Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung and Ron Perlman. The film is being produced by Paul W.S. Anderson (writer-director of the Resident Evil films), along with Robert Kulzer, Martin Moszkowicz, Jeremy Bolt and Dennis Berard.

According to the Monster Hunter Fandom wiki [1, 2], Diablos are actually herbivores. They are extremely territorial of their desert homes, and will burrow underground to surprise intruders before ramming them. Black Diablos are females in heat, their black shells indicating they are even more hostile than usual.
