Deadly Premonition 2 “Sanity Checked” Update Now Live

Deadly Premonition 2

Director and writer Hidetaka Suehiro (“Swery”) has announced the update for Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is now live, altering some of the game’s controversial content.

We previously reported Swery announced some scenes will be updated, after being “sanity checked by a team that included diversity” due to some of its characters being transphobic.

Now, Swery has confirmed via Twitter that the update is now live. In addition to fixing undisclosed bugs and glitches, future updates will also fix the game’s frame-rate issues.

You can read the full statement below.

“Dear DP2 fans,

Dev team, Publisher and the sanity check team worked so hard that we were able to release the 1st patch.

The scenario where problem occurred has been fixed. I didn’t change the important point of the story of this work, and I was able to make changes only where I wanted to make corrections.
Therefore, I am confident that fans who were worried that “this fix may change the essence of the game” will be reassured.

Of course we also fixed bugs/glitches that we knew. Regarding frame rate improvement, we plan to gradually improve it.
This patch is only partially fixing of frame rate, but we are preparing the next patch after this, ASAP. Please expect and wait.

I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to urgent patching and to the fans who support Deadly Premonition.
I Love You All!!”

Producer Tomio Kanazawa also confirmed future updates would add inverted camera controls. Those who have played the update note the new lines are not voiced. Skateboard conversations no longer activate automatically (requiring a button prompt), as well as lowering of some sounds.
