Nintendo Treehouse Live Premieres July 10th, Revealing New WayForward Game, Paper Mario: The Origami King Gameplay

Nintendo Treehouse

Nintendo have announced a Nintendo Treehouse Live presentation; featuring Paper Mario: The Origami King gameplay, and the reveal of a new game by WayForward.

Both topics have also been in the news recently as well. Gameplay for Paper Mario: The Origami King appeared online, though seemingly removed by the source from it’s website.

It is highly unlikely this would be the same gameplay we will see during the presentation, as that will be live. On the one hand, the coronavirus pandemic may mean that it is harder to set up ways for the members of Nintendo Treehouse to get games to play live for the show (due to risk of leaks, or them lacking the equipment to broadcast live gameplay).

On the other, if it was Treehouse members commentating live over pre-recorded gameplay, then it would seem more logical to call it a Nintendo Direct.

These Treehouse presentations also typically came during E3, after the main Nintendo presentation with multiple days of live gameplay and interviews. E3 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

WayForward also recently teased they would be making a new River City Girls Game. Based on information from Limited Run Games, this may be called River City Girls 0However, that would be speculation on our part.

While River City is a franchise, River City Girls would not be a franchise until another entry (and even then, two games being a franchise is debatable). Others games with multiple sequels under WayForward include Shantae and Mighty Switch Force.

The phrasing of the tweet could even be read more into. “We’ll feature a first reveal and gameplay for a title in a franchise new to developer WayForward!” The quotes says “new to” rather than “new from” WayForward.

Could this be a classic franchise that WayForward have been trusted to produce a new fame for? A game and franchise “new to” the developer?

The Nintendo Treehouse Live Presentation premieres July 10th at 10 a.m. PT, via YouTube.
