Fairy Tail Delayed Due to Coronavirus Pandemic, Launches July 30 in Europe, July 31 in North America

Koei Tecmo have announced a delay in upcoming JRPG Fairy Tail due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The news comes via Koei Tecmo America and their statement via Twitter, confirming the delay is due to global disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic (also known as COVID-19 officially, or Chinese Flu to others).


“Due to the ever-changing world disrupted by COVID-19, KOEI TECMO and Gust Studios are pushing back the release of FAIRY TALE until July 31, 2020. The development team is working extremely hard through an unprecedented time to deliver the ultimate magical JRPG experience to fans across the world and we appreciate everybody’s patience as we put the final touches on this thrilling adventure.”

The same message was delivered by Koei Tecmo Europe, but with the date of July 30th for the European region.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has affected many worldwide, from businesses to public gatherings and events. This includes postponements of GDC, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the physical events for EVO 2020 and Tokyo Game Show 2020, and cancellations E3 2020 (including digital events), the physical event for Gamescom 2020Comiket 98, and MAGStock 2020.

We also reported Guilty Gear: Strive being delayed to 2021, and Kerbal Space Program 2 being delayed to Fall 2021.

The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering are mapping the virus’ spread [12]. As of this time of writing, there have been over 5.128 million total confirmed cases worldwide, and over 2.829 million active cases. There have been over 333,000 deaths, however over 1.966 million people have made a “total recovery.”
