Former Hollywood VFX production artists turned game developers KeelWorks have announced Cygni: All Guns Blazing, a hybrid of twin-stick and vertical scrolling shooters.
As stated in the press release, along with the blend of genres, the game combines retro gameplay with modern graphics and music. Players can choose to route power to weapons or shields as they blast through enemies backed by a full orchestral score.
The game was made by two self-taught developers who had previously worked as film and VFX production artists, including work or Pixar. Keelworks earned a “substantial” cash award as one of the Epic MegaGrant recipients.

Encamped within the remains of a long-lost civilization on the planet Cygni, Earth forces are decimated by a surprise attack from a powerful, biomechanical, alien race.
