Multiplayer Competitive Platformer Jumpala Enters Early Access on Steam in 2020

Jumpala

Publisher and developer Yokereba has announced multiplayer competitive platformer Jumpala will enter Early Access on Steam this year.

As detailed in the press release, players jump off colored platforms to gain points before reaching the top. Up to four players can play across five stages with their own hazards, and one of four playable characters with their own playstyles and abilities.

The game was solo developed by Makario Lewis, who states the game is “a love letter to Spryjinx, a game I played as a child. I wanted to capture the feelings I had when playing Spryjinx, and add some modern twists like special abilities and cool characters.”

You can find the Coming to Steam announcement trailer below.

You can find an abridged rundown (via Steam) below.

Overview

JUMPALA is a fast-paced competitive platformer that’s all about strategy, superpowers, sabotage, and stage control. Jump on platforms to turn them your color and collect points before reaching the top. Build your Special Meter to activate your character’s special moves and gain the advantage. And whatever you do, don’t fall off the stage!

The core mechanics are simple to learn, but hard to master. Each game is a test of skill and strategy as you try to outscore and outlive your opponents.

Game Features

  • Compete against up to four of your friends in action-packed free for alls, or team up in 2v2 matches.
  • Easy to learn, tough to master. If you want to be the best, you’ll have to plan your routes, practice your timing, and perfect your positioning—all while being mindful of your opponent.
  • Choose from a variety of stages, each with unique features and hazards to watch out for.
  • Each character has their own unique abilities and playstyle. From attacking your opponents to racking up points—whatever your style, there’s a character for you.

Jumpala enters Early Access 2020 on Windows PC, Linux, and Mac (all via Steam).
