Niche Spotlight – Captain Starshot

This is Niche Spotlight. In this column, we regularly introduce new games to our fans, so please leave feedback and let us know if there’s a game you want us to cover!

Today’s Spotlight is something a little different. Today, I’d like to highlight Captain Starshot, a free roguelite shooter by Double Door Games, a team of 23 game development students from the Breda University of Applied Sciences.

Inspired by sci-fi pulp adventure comics and radio serials from the ’50s, you play as the daring Captain Starshot and his crew of intergalactic defenders tasked with protecting humanity from the malicious aliens that roam the cosmos.

Start each mission by weakening an enemy vessel in ship-to-ship combat, then prepare to board so you can finish them off and steal any valuable technology they have. Upgrade your ship and crew between missions to take on greater challenges. You can find a trailer above.

You can download Captain Starshot for free on Steam.

Here’s a rundown of the game:

Salute Captain,
We are pleased to see you reporting for duty. Now, let us explain to you what you can expect on this mission;
