Pokemon Sword and Shield Japanese Steel Move Name Contest Winner Revealed

Game Freak have revealed the results of their contest, where Japanese fans could suggest the name for “the strongest Steel-type move” in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

In case you missed our prior coverage, Japanese fans could submit their ideas for the move name to Coro Coro. The move is 140 Base Power Special Move that cuts the user’s remaining HP in half.

The move’s name has now been revealed as “てっていこうせん” (tette ikou sen). This translates as “Exhaustive Beam” or “Do-or-Die Resistance” depending on how you translate it- acting as a play on words of the Japanese words for laser beam and iron.

The move was also shown being used by the recently revealed Duraludon. You can find that video below:

What do you think the move will be called in English? Sound off in the comments below!

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will launch November 15th globally, for Nintendo Switch.
