Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Update Adds VR Mode, More Amiibo FP Usage

Nintendo has now officially revealed the Nintendo Labo VR Kit is now compatible with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 3.1.0- after yesterday’s rumor.

Detailed in the video above and on the official website, players can new use VR view in single-player modes.

While no confirmation was provided for Spirit Board or World of Light modes, it seems to work with matches between CPU or a single player against CPU. You also have a greater degree of freedom with where the camera moves, letting you see parts of the stage you typically cannot or get right up close to the action.

While there was no trailer for it, the 3.1.0 update also added more functionality for Amiibo. Amiibo Figure Players can now go on a “journey.”

Essentially the Figure Player (FP) ventures out onto the internet to fight with other FPs, even while you are not playing the game. You can then watch the fights your FP got into and collect the rewards it earned, including “rare items.” Finally, online Battle Arenas can now be set up to allow FPs.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for Nintendo Switch. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).
