Pokemon Masters Announced for Smartphones

Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, and DeNA have announced Pokemon Masters.

The new smartphone game is coming sometime this year and will include all of the trainers found in the Pokemon franchise, including gym leaders, champions and main characters. Along with basic text dialogue, brief snippets of voice acting were also heard during the video demonstration.

Each trainer also seems to utilize their “signature” Pokemon in three-on-three battles. The battle system seems simplified, with Pokemon possibly only having one type weakness. Further, each Pokemon seemed to have two attacks- however Brock’s Onix managed to execute a more powerful attack after Brock seemingly “powered-up”, similar to Z-Moves in the recent mainline 3DS titles.

At this time, no release date was revealed. More info will come in June however.

Pokemon Masters will launch on Android and iOS. You can find the full run-down below:

A new Pokémon mobile game called Pokémon Masters is on the way for iOS and Android devices from The Pokémon Company and DeNA. Pokémon Masters enables players to experience a new type of Pokémon battling on the go and features many famous Pokémon Trainers from the long history of Pokémon video games. Gameplay will be optimized for smart devices for a casual but uniquely Pokémon experience. Fans can expect more details about Pokémon Masters in June.
