The latest Famitsu sales numbers have revealed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold over 1.23 million copies at retail within Japan.

The new milestone was reached within the first three days of its release in Japan, making it the highest opening weekend for a Switch title, as well as the highest opening week for the entire Super Smash Bros. series. In total, over 1,238,358 retail copies were sold.

Switch hardware sales were 278,313 units for that week, roughly 2.6 times the 107,450 units sold the previous week.
