Sony has announced worldwide shipments for PlayStation 4 have topped 86.1 million units.

The new milestone was reached as of September 30th of this year – news confirmed in their latest financial report. A total of 3.9 million PS4 consoles were shipped during the second quarter, a figure down 0.3 million from the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Sony also altered their previous sales forecast of 17 million PlayStation 4 units shipped in this fiscal year up to 17.5 million units. This bump up comes from an expected increase in sales due to foreign exchange rates, as well as an uptick in PlayStation Plus memberships, software sales, and hardware sales.
