Mal’Ganis Comes to Heroes of the Storm

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that the Dreadlord Mal’Ganis is the next hero coming to their free-to-play MOBA, Heroes of the Storm.

Mal’Ganis is best known in Warcraft lore as being the demon that orchestrated the fall of Arthas. In HotS, Mal’Ganis is a melee bruiser that excels at sustain and crowd control.

His Trait, Vampiric Touch, heals him for 45% of the damage he deals to heroes and 15% of the damage he deals to minions. His Basic Abilities are Fel Claws (Q), Necrotic Embrace (W), and Night Rush (E).

Fel Claws causes Mal’Ganis to lunge forward a short distance and slash in a wide arc in the chosen direction. The ability can be used two more times in rapid succession, with the final swipe causing Stun for 0.75 seconds.

Necrotic Embrace deals damage over time around Mal’Ganis for 3 seconds. Mal’Ganis also gains 25 Armor during the duration of the ability.

His final Basic Ability, Night Rush, increases his movement speed by 50% for 2 seconds after a brief casting time. While active, Mal’Ganis can pass through enemy heroes to put them to Sleep.

His two Heroic Abilities are Carrion Swarm and Dark Conversion. Carrion Swarm turns Mal’Ganis into an Invulnerable swarm of bats for 3 seconds that deal damage to any enemies caught in their path. Vampiric Touch’s healing is increased to 100% during this time. Dark Conversion (which I personally feel will be the stronger of his two Heroics), allows Mal’Ganis to swap health percentages with target hero after a 0.75 second Channel.

Mal’Ganis will go live with the next patch, which you can read about here.

Heroes of the Storm is available for free in the Blizzard App, for Windows PC and Mac OS.
