New Rise of Persia DLC Now Available for Historical Strategy Game Field Of Glory II

Field of Glory II, a historical turn-based wargame by Byzantine Games and Slitherine Ltd. that emulates tabletop miniature games, has just received its fourth DLC expansion.

While the base game deals with the rise of Rome circa 280 BC until 25 BC, the aptly-named Rise of Persia DLC goes back to 681 BC and covers the conflicts of the budding near-East civilizations.

The expansion adds a total of 12 new nations, including Assyria, Babylon, and Egypt. This totals out to 32 new units as well, and allows players to experience the waning years of chariot warfare. You can watch the launch trailer for the original game above.


This expansion is accompanied by a free update that adds a handful of new units, most notably Praetorian Guards and Peltasts. You can read more about the DLC and update here.

The Rise of Persia expansion is available for $14.99. The base game is available for Windows PC on Steam and GOG for $29.99, and it’s currently 34% off on both platforms.

The game that brought the fun and excitement of the tabletop experience to digital form is back. Developed by legendary designer Richard Bodley Scott in a completely new 3D engine, Field of Glory is ready to set new standards in computer wargaming.

Field of Glory II allows you to fight large or small battles for or against Rome, or between the other nations who are as yet unaware of the Roman threat, or what-if battles between nations that never actual came into conflict historically, but might have done if the course of history had been different.

Take command of a huge variety of armies employing vastly different tactical doctrines. Lead your chosen army and its named generals to victory in set-piece historical battles or “what-if” custom battle situations against an AI or human opponent.
