Amazon Killing Off Prime Member Discounts for Video Game Pre-orders

While Amazon previously ended the Prime Member discounts for pre-ordering big swanky limited editions for video games, the retail giant has announced they’re ending pre-order discounts for video games altogether.

The 20% discount on video game pre-orders will end on August 28th.

Amazon, now the third most valuable company in the world, will instead offer a $10 Amazon credit for pre-ordering select games.

It’s worth mentioning that you’ll get the credit within 35 days of the game’s actual release, and you’ll have to use that credit within 60 days.

Naturally, the number of games that are eligible for this credit may vary, instead of the flat discount Prime members had before.

Amazon had been offering the discount since 2016. Retail competitors like Best Buy offered similar programs like their Gamers Club, which they quietly shut down back in May of this year.
