Square Enix has announced the western release date for Dragon Quest XI.
The latest in their long-running RPG franchise will launch for Windows PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 4 on September 4th.
Square has shared the game’s opening cinematic, as well as a gameplay trailer:
When asked whether or not the Nintendo 3DS or Switch versions would be localized, Square issued a statement to IGN where they confirmed the 3DS version isn’t coming west. However, they did confirm an English release for the Switch port:
“We are also developing the Switch version for Europe and North America,” Square Enix said, “but development is expected to take a long time from a technological standpoint as well, so we still have a long way to go until its release.”
The company didn’t confirm a release window for the Switch port, however, they did note it could end up releasing “much later.”
