The current director in line to helm the live-action Call of Duty movie is eyeing up Tom Hardy and Christ Pine to star in the movie.

Director Stefano Sollima revealed his ambition in an interview with Metro, where he noted he’s a fan of “almost everything” Hardy has appeared in. He also noted he wants Chris Pine to star in the film alongside Hardy, describing Pine as “tough, but he’s smart, and he can even have a sense of humor, but he can (also) be in such a dramatic role.”

It’s worth noting that Sollima is still technically in negotiations with Activision Blizzard to direct the film, but it’s not preventing him from sizing up his potential cast. “I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor,” Sollima said.

The script for the film is being handled by Kieran Fitzgerald, and its meant to take a Marvel Cinematic Universe type approach. That’s basically all we know for now.

The Call of Duty movie will apparently take on a sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe approach, although nothing much has been revealed on the project yet other than the fact the script is being penned by Kieran Fitzgerald.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
