Stardew Valley Multiplayer Update is “Coming Along Great”

Independent developer Concernedape has further teased the upcoming multiplayer update for Stardew Valley.

“Testing multiplayer… it’s coming along great! @tccoxon is doing fantastic work,” the developer said on Twitter. “I’m really excited, this is already really fun and it’s only going to get better before release. Check out my log cabin”

The game’s upcoming sizeable update that includes the long-awaited multiplayer functionality and more is coming sometime early next year first on PC, Mac, and Linux. You can read more about the update here.

Stardew Valley is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In case you missed it, you can find my review for Stardew Valley here (I highly recommend it).

Is it going to be like MineCraft where you log into multiplayer to destroy other people’s hard work?

I know some will like the idea but I for one don’t. Much rather they spend the time to increase the size of the map of add new quests or something.

If I remember correctly, development of the multiplayer mode is outsourced to a team at chucklefish. concernedape mentioned that this was done because he wants to concentrate on content and bugfixing of the main game, not the technical implementation of a multiplayer mode.

So – rejoice, this is pretty much what you asked for!
