Nintendo Switch ROMs Now Appearing Online

With every gaming console release, there are full captures of the games released for the platform ripped and reuploaded online in various forms.

The main argument for this method of capturing games is for preservation, as any kind of physical media eventually degrades. However, sometimes this leads to piracy, and thus the entire thing is a pretty big gray area, legally speaking.

Now, we’ve learned (via GBATemp) the first Nintendo Switch ROMs have been dumped online. The games include:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Arms
  • Has Been Heroes
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris
  • Lego City Undercover

It’s worth pointing out these ROMs are currently unusable, as the Nintendo Switch has yet to be emulated via software, and the console itself has yet to be jailbroken. It’s also worth mentioning the uploaders of the ROMs do not condone piracy, nor do the staff here at Niche Gamer.
