Sega Has Plans to “Explore PC Port Options” Following Bayonetta

The exciting news that Sega ported the original Bayonetta to PC had fans wildly speculating what other games could also be ported to PC. Fortunately, the publisher is looking to capitalize on that, if the very same press release is anything to go by.

In the press release announcing a PC version for Bayonetta, the publisher said they have plans to “explore PC port options,” and they look forward “to sharing more news soon.” Could we see its sequel, Bayonetta 2, somehow make a PC release?

My take: It’s always better to have games on more platforms – the more hands and users that have access to a title, the better, most obviously from a financial standpoint.

That’s about all we have to go off for now – however that won’t stop you guys from demanding PC ports of games right? Sound off in the comments below with Sega games you’d like to see on PC!

Wasn’t Bayo 2 funded by Nintendo? If so, i doubt it would come to PC, specially since if they ported to Switch it would probably boost its sales….

What we do need is that damn Vanquish game.

Nintendo funded the Wii U version of Bayonetta 2. Nothing that has been published about the deal indicates Nintendo has an ongoing ownership of the IP. There have been past deals like this where the exclusivity was limited to a single platform or time period.

It would be different if Nintendo originated the character. Rare cannot put Star Fox Adventures on a Microsoft platform due to the characters being owned by Nintendo, even though the game started as Dinosaur Planet on the N64 with no existing Nintendo characters. Technically, Rare could revive the original non-Star fox design but it seems unlikely the value is there to make it worth doing.

This. They’d sell like hot cakes, and considering how well Valkyria Chronicles sold on Steam, I wouldn’t not be surprised if P3 and P4 Golden showed up on steam. Japan’s console market isn’t what it used to be. If FF15 can’t do well in Japan on console, its time to wake the fuck up.

Well, Nintendo was timid about publishing on mobile. Give it some time, and if Bayonetta sells well on PC. They could be incentivized to try and recoup their investment.

With Satoru Iwata gone, there’s a good chance that eventually they could start publishing on PC.

Though tbh I’d love a PS4 port so I can finally play the game with a decent gamepad, the Wii U’s pro pad is utter trash I regret buying and while not terrible, the Wii U pad isn’t exactly made for this type of game.

All that went on Mobile was shitty Pay-to-play games of existing franchises to get sales for their games up higher. Unless that’s what PCucks want (Which, looking on steam seems more true by the day) It isn’t something to bet on, most definitely when the Switch seems to be doing more better then the Wii U, and that’s without a Holiday release.

That’s what they said after Valkyria Chronicles and then how long did it take for another major PC port to happen? Like, two years?

Sega wants my attention, they’re going to have to do something big: like dragging Atlus into the 21st century, by forcing them to port some of their older titles to PC. Particularly Catherine, but I’m interested in the PSP remakes of the earlier Personas as well. Maybe even localize that version of Eternal Punishment.

As for Sega itself, I’d want Vanquish, some Yakuza games, Madworld, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and especially the Sega Model 2 Collection. Icey want Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters on PC.

I think it’s a little more complicated with Bayo 2 since it was funded by Nintendo, not just published. The situation is more similar to Microsoft and Ninja Gaiden 2, Platinum would have to change the name and the game itself in some way in order to publish it in other platforms, like Team Ninja did with Sigma. I honestly don’t see Platinum making that kind of effort.

Which mean it isn’t likely to be covered by this statement given their publishing wings are separate at the moment, but I would imagine they’ll merge at some point and if PC ports do well for Sega Atlus will probably get a piece of the pie too. (I suspect finally supporting dual audio was due to Sega.)

I think this title is handled by Sega Europe as they manage publishing Sega for PC titles.

but I’m sure everything Atlus is up for grabs since they’re separate from Sega in name only. The Atlus name has consumer cred, they were smart to preserve it.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover Lost Worlds got a port, I have a love-hate relationship with that game, although it’s Sonic Unleashed I’m keen for a port of because it’s the only one I don’t already own for something else.

I’ve learned to just go with the flow as far as ports are concerned; I have such a colossal backlog at the moment that I can wait as long as it takes for the stuff I’m really keen to get ported (Burnout, Onimusha, Timesplitters,) because the way the console industry is going I figure everything is going to end up on PC, eventually.

Well, Nintendo didn’t funded those game so… Yeah they can use them on Xbox.
Totally different from Bayonetta which was completely funded by Nintendo, it’s like Wonderful 101, you won’t see it on PC.

It’s rapidly evolving, though. And Pokken already runs like ass on a WiiU, too, so its not like the bar is very high to begin with. I have it here running on my WiiU from my external drive and it runs at an abysmal fps rate.

That’s a very simplistic way of looking at things. Just because Sega owns them doesn’t mean they want to piss Atlus off by making them do it against their will. They probably want to maintain a healthy working relationship with them.

Atlus might not be interested at all. Maybe there’s tech licensing issues, or maybe their tech was very specifically made for consoles. Though in the case of Persona 5 that’s less likely to be an issue as the PS4 is essentially a PC.

“You mean the poorly optimize car wreck that people call “Cemu”?”

The same Cemu that can run the most popular Wii U titles at full speed with 4K resolution and capable of modding in better textures? The same Cemu that has at least made dramatic performance progress with Breath of the Wild since its launch, with the possibility of 60FPS?

    Yeah, that same Cemu.

I just reallly hope Sega will release Resonance Of Fate for steam soon. That game is too cool and deserve to second change. Their gameplay strategy is very dinamic than other game strategy. You should release it Sega! Believe me it won’t waste your time and money. You should consider this for Sega Future
