Volition’s Agents of Mayhem Release Dates Set for Mid-August 2017

Volition’s latest chaotic third-person action game, Agents of Mayhem, has a release date.

The new game will launch across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 15th in North America and August 18th in Europe.

Featured above, you can view a new “Bad vs. Evil” trailer for the game, which features your expected levels of over-the-top, chaotic action.

Here’s a rundown on the game, via Deep Silver:

After the horrors of Devil’s Night, the world was left in ruins from the devastation that the shadowy supervillain organisation LEGION had left in its wake.

They needed heroes.
They got the Agents of MAYHEM.

In a case of bad versus evil, this elite band of often unstable misfits, armed with a variety of crazy weapons, work under the watchful eye of Persephone Brimstone, ex-LEGION lieutenant, and her girl Friday, to bring down LEGION and its mysterious leader, the Morningstar.

Explore the city of Seoul with a team of three interchangeable agents, each with their own distinct look, sense of humour, weapons, and skillset. Players can build their team however they choose, switching from Daisy, a mini-gun wielding, beer-swigging, foul-mouthed derby girl, to Rama, an immunologist with a futuristic bow and energy arrows, to Red Card, a psychotic football hooligan with a temper that can literally clear a crowd.

With a toy box of twelve unique agents to choose from, players can jump between notable TV star/pretty boy Hollywood, to sky pirate and internationally infamous thief Fortune, as the mission demands.

This looks really fun. I like Saints Row and this seems to be in a similar vein. The only thing that can prevent me from buying it is hearing about a season pass.

This screams Saints Row (funded by Ultor), but even wackier. And I didn’t think that was possible.

Yeah, but the Saints Row season passes actually gave you quiet a bit for the price especially 4.

That’s true, but I don’t buy season passes. I’d rather wait for the complete edition.

After Gat out of Hell this looks quite tame.

Yeah, I’m not a fan either. I usually only buy them if they are on sale for half off and if not, I buy a complete edition.

Apparently this is set after Saints Row IV and Gat Out of Hell, so it’s pretty much a spin-off. I wonder what that could mean for Saints Row V if it happens – maybe it’ll go back to it’s roots while they keep the cuhrazy stuff to AoM.

Volition staff have said that Gat out of Hell was the last direct Saints Row game. As far as story goes the “Earth is restored but the Saints never existed” option is the canon one and the one being utilized.

It is going to get a poor sales reception, from the tweets so far, this game got fuck all for coverage and just “happened”. It is sad really, we wanted a successor to the crime sandbox genre and all we have is Mafia, Watchdogs and GTA: Shark Card Online and we know how triggered /v/ is for Mafia and Watchdogs while lamenting how GTA is basically a MMO for good now.
