SteamWorld Dig 2 Announced for Nintendo Switch

Independent Swedish developer Image & Form have announced SteamWorld Dig 2 for the Nintendo Switch.

The game features a new robotic protagonist, and will launch sometime this year for the new console. It’s worth mentioning the game isn’t exclusive to the Switch, with Image & Form teasing future “platform announcements.”

Featured above, you can view the debut trailer for the game. Here’s the first artwork and screenshots:

Here’s a rundown on the game, via Image & Form:

Grab your pickaxe and dig into this sequel to the award-winning SteamWorld Dig, a platform mining adventure forged in Metroidvania flames. In search of her lost friend, a lone steambot and her unlikely companion must dig deep, gain riches and explore an underworld riddled with danger. But time is running short…

Adventure awaits this summer when SteamWorld Dig 2 debuts on Nintendo Switch. We can’t wait to show our fans how we’ve incorporated the Nintendo Switch system’s unique technologies, like the Joy-Con and HD Rumble.

In case you missed it, you can find my review for the original SteamWorld Dig here (I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it). You can also find our review for the tactical spinoff SteamWorld Heist, here (we highly recommend it).
