Spike Chunsoft is Teasing a New Fire Pro Wrestling Game

Pinch me because I can’t believe what I’m seeing – Spike Chunsoft has published a “mysterious website” for what seems to be a new Fire Pro Wrestling game.

The site has a short YouTube video (featured above), and a link to a @sc_prowrestling Twitter account. The video shows two wrestlers as they’re about to square off, and it ends somewhat quickly to display the Spike Chunsoft logo.

The display name for the Twitter account is “3/2 in San Francisco,” and the hyperlink for the teaser website has the digits “070302,” in it, leading us to believe a reveal is probably happening next Thursday, March 2nd. This year’s Game Developer’s Conference is going down at that time.

In April of last year, Spike Chunsoft gauged fan interest in a new Fire Pro Wrestling game, to which there was considerable support.

Perhaps we’ll see an honest-to-goodness modern game in the franchise? We’ll keep you guys posted.

Outstanding! I’ve always loved the Fire Pro series. Bought a GBA pretty much for the 2 American Fire Pro games. The PS2 game was excellent (once you learned to play it).

I’m hoping that in addition to the knockoff wrestlers, they lean on their IPs and add some guest wrestlers. Which ones? Look at my avatar!

Hell yeah, we need more arcade-ish pro-wrestling games so bad these days! If they manage to add wrestlers from NJPW/ROH as well, it would be epic!!

Didn’t know the game’s history and background unfortunately, just played the awesome PS2 one and in great need of an arcade pro-wrestling game….

Also, as a fan, in great need of a non-mobile NJPW game, as well (although Let’s Play Pro-Wrestling *is* pretty neat for a mobile game) so thank you for the great news!

No problem mate. The fire pro rosters are usually made up of of the prominent japanese promotions like New Japan, All Japan, with NOAH, Dragon Gate etc in more recent editions. Also there’s usually freelancers, and Us and Mexican guys thrown in as well especially in the gba one.

Fire Pro is not arcade style wrestling at all though. Probably the complete opposite of that. The sim aspect of the game is pretty much it’s bread and butter.

I meant an alternative to the simulative approach of 2K games, which I’m not a fan of. I remember Fire Pro avoiding the button mashing approach of more arcade games but it’s definitely an alternative to how 2K shaped theirs.
