Japanese Studio Cave’s New Game Lets You Destroy Cities as a Giant Schoolgirl in VR

Veteran Japanese shoot ’em up developer Cave has revealed (via Famitsu) their latest game, and it’s quite the departure from their storied legacy of shooters.

Tentatively titled A.I am Monster, the new game is built from the ground up for virtual reality, and is set for a release in Japan sometime next year. Featured above, you can view the game’s announcement trailer.

While release platforms weren’t confirmed, the developer has put a big focus on how much destruction you cause in-game. As you destroy buildings, you’ll accrue a total of how much damage you’ve caused financially, thus calculating your final score.

It doesn’t look too good to be honest. Still a cool idea.

Nice to see A.I. again in a new game. It could use a bit of work in the graphics area, but looks fun.

Looks like an extreme version of Katamari. It’s still needs a lot of polish but if they don’t sell it has an expensive game this could be a really fun game, hope they keep the OST on the original game

I do hope that this won’t be another early access game. There’s quite a bit of those in VR I feel may saturate the already niche market.

I agree, worst case scenario I would take it they release the full game (mechanics and such worked out) and then add content has free updates just to keep the game interesting, I could see myself playing baseball with tanks with a couple of friends online in this game

Well it did show him taking off his shirt to dress up like a girl at the beginning. =P

They are using the HTC Vive in this video, so likely at least pc as one of the platforms. Either way it doesn’t really look that interesting to me.

I skipped it considering the main game looked like shit anyways. VR could be great but with those kinda games it kinda makes it more into a gimmick.

Reminds me of a similar game instead with a loli in a Godzilla costume.

the premise is solid but the gameplay footage itself looks like it needs a lot more work

Wow. It makes even Devolution Girl for PS2 look like a Hideo Kojima masterpiece.

Meh, give me a VR FPS or just give me a game where you can wreck hipster San Francisco as a giant pinup girl.
