Square Enix Files Trademark for New Fantasy Earth Game

Square Enix has filed a trademark for what could be a new version of their long-running Japanese MMORPG, Fantasy Earth.

The new trademark, filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, points to a new game titled Fantasy Earth Genesis.

Fantasy Earth: Zero originally launched for PC in Japan back in 2006, and is still played to this day. While the game was officially localized in English, the western servers were shut down in less than a year. A third-person action RPG, Fantasy Earth had a big emphasis on player-versus-player combat on a grand scale, which Square Enix described as “kingdom-versus-kingdom.”
