New Prey Trailer Introduces Female Lead

Bethesda Softworks has shared a new gameplay trailer for Prey.

Featured above, the new trailer is the exact same footage that we saw back in August, however, the male protagonist has been swapped for a female character.

The game is a re-imagining of the franchise, only now with a more psychological focus on its themes. Now, you play as the first human imbued with alien powers.

Prey is launching across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime next year.

“Because what the audience wants the most isn’t an awesome looking bounty hunter shooter but just a “System Shock” knock off r-right?! And how about we label the game towards an IP that wasn’t even that popular to begin with!”- Bethesda PR.

Is she strong and independent though? They didn’t have the balls to repeat the bloody eyes trailer with a woman.

I’d rather have Prey 2. Being a Space Bounty Hunter sounds cooler than whatever the fuck this is.

I’ll never be not made about what bethsoft did to human head studios, trying to buy a game studio while rejecting milestones and claiming the game wasn’t up to bethsoft standards is shady as fuck.

I’m glad I never played the original game. On the other hand now you guys know how it feels to have your favorite franchise destroyed(Mafia 3).

Can’t say I’m hyped for this (at all), but maybe it’ll turn out decent. Either way, I just can’t help but wonder why they called this Prey? It’s just such a far departure from it’s predecessor that it doesn’t seem to have anything in common with it aside from the Alien’s.

So is sex optional or no?

Bc I refuse to play as female, bc I know the chickenshit liberal politics forcing such a narrative

Not really interested before, still unsure if I care now. I do kinda like the change because the “everyman scruffy diamond in the rough” archetype that was used is pretty much the protagonist of EVERY FPS these days. It isn’t a big deal that they made it a lady, it is just good that they changed it period.

Bethesda’s just the publisher, though. The developer is this moderately-known studio who made those “Dishonoured”-games.

Please tell me I don’t have to be pissed off at Bethesda for this.

Yeah Tommy was, but it’s pretty obvious this has nothing to do with the original. They’re just using the name. I really wish Human Head had somehow retained the rights and completed Prey 2. It was one of my most anticipated games of all time.

You should play the original if you like those types of shooters. It’s great.

I think this might have decreased my interest particularly if they fail to deliver by making the alternative gender an interesting character. Resident Evil had different routes and skills. Fire Emblem had very different supports and children.

If this is like the typical “every-could-be-man-or-woman”, barely any dialogue or interactions will play into the gender, race or name of the character making the game more boring despite doubling the protagonist’s voice clips in addition to “Him” and “Her” stuff.

Faith in Mirror’s Edge had potential to stick out for herself, just like most predefined JRPG protagonists even if I know from experience that Mirror’s Edge 1 had a terrible story.

I was a fan of both franchises and get to watch idiots defend the most historically inaccurate virtue signalling anti white propaganda bs game to be made.
