inXile has recently announced that it will be developing Wasteland 3.
inXile has opted out of using Kickstarter, which was previously used to fund Wasteland 2, and will instead use Fig as their crowdfunding platform.
The Fig campaign will open up for potential backers on October 5th, with the goal set at 2.75 million dollars.
Some of the features that have been already advertised for the game include “asynchronous multiplayer”, a brand new location in the form of a frozen Colorado wasteland, and a revamped dialogue tree system, courtesy of the writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Wasteland 3 is planned to be developed for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux.

September 28, 2016 at 2:25 pmFig is the Tim Schafer thing right? If so, terrible decision on inXile’s part. I would have backed this if it was on any other crowdfunding platform. I refuse to even wave my money in Schafer’s general direction.

September 28, 2016 at 2:35 pmIt’s not just Schafer, but yeah, he’s apart of it.
The CEO of inXile is part of Fig as well, so naturally they would use it.

September 28, 2016 at 3:03 pmShady business practices are likely the main reasons. A good example is when Schafer decided to abandon an unfinished game and rather than pulling it or offering refunds, he took it out of Early Access and sold it as “Complete” on the Steam Storefront.

September 28, 2016 at 3:20 pmI didn’t enjoy wasteland 2 so I don’t want to help this project, but even if I did I would refuse to do so through fig.

September 28, 2016 at 3:22 pmNope they should not still depend on crowd funding. Scam!

September 28, 2016 at 3:27 pmThe people actually giving money to these kikestarting oven dodgers should just stop. I’d rather they get a loan from their bank than use my fucking cash. I’ll buy your goddamn game when it’s finished, fuck off.

September 28, 2016 at 3:53 pmJesus dude, what did Schafer ever do to you? Scam you, lie about you, smugly shit on you for years and make fun of you at GDC?

September 28, 2016 at 3:55 pmThey blacklisted a site that raised them over 10,000 USD over vague reasons they refuse to discuss. Of course inXile is scummy.

September 28, 2016 at 7:08 pmHonestly all crowdfunding is a scam. It should correctly be called a pre-ordering platform, but never mind.
I enjoyed Wasteland 2 but no dollars will be spent by me before a game is actually out. They’ve done well so far and I think Torment will shape up nicely, but these crowdfunding shenanigans need to stop.

September 29, 2016 at 2:28 pmagreed. I would have backed it if it was on
kickstarter like 2 was, I refuse to put any money into Fig. It’s also
pretty irresponsible to pick up another game when both Torment: Tides of Numenera and Bard’s Tale IV are no where near finished. Few people like Tim Schafer, or his platform, it will cost them a lot of funding.
