Publisher Versus Evil has announced the console release date for The Banner Saga 2.

The Norse mythology-themed strategy game will launch for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26th.

“We are happy that we were able to create a development schedule where the console version of Banner Saga 2 could come out shortly after the PC version,” Stoic Studios technical director John Watson said in a press release.

“Although our team size dictated what we could do with the first release, we knew that a two year wait for the sequel was just not acceptable, so we worked extremely hard to ensure that console gamers could continue their journey in a timely fashion.”

Finally, the developer also teased up a third entry in the series. “Our goal for Banner Saga 3 is to simultaneously ship on all platforms!”.

The Banner Saga 2 has been available for PC since last month, via Steam.

Already talking about a third game? Well, OK, I guess.

It only makes sense. The series was clearly constructed to be a trilogy from the start, and the second game umistakeably sets up a third.
